About Me

Hey there! Thank you for your interest and support in my ministry! I’m so excited to share stories of what the Lord is doing and to invite you to be part of them!

My name is Kalani and I’m originally from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I’ve been with YWAM Kona since Fall of 2021 when I did my DTS and I am currently serving as a full-time staff member with the School of Worship here in Kona!

Why I chose to go into ministry

My vision:

My current vision for long term ministry is to continue being equipped as an artist and producer unto being launched into the mission field of the secular music industry. Since I was young, the Lord has given me a deep desire to be an artist and storyteller through my music both within and outside of the context of Christian/worship music. As I’ve walked with the Lord I’ve realized that this desire goes so much deeper than one of self promotion and selfish gain. With that said, imagine what it would look like to be training and equipping artists to be sent out into the secular music industry as their mission field instead of only raising up ones whose influence won’t reach much further than the four walls of the church. This is one of the things that I think School of Worship does well and can continue to do well as it grows which is one of the main reasons why I feel such a strong call to partner with their vision while also pursuing what I feel the Lord has given me vision for.

In the far future, I would love to be doing exactly that: training, equipping and supporting artists who have a deep heart for reaching people through their specific expression of creativity but an even deeper heart for missions so that they can pair the two together and release music that has a wide and broad range of influence.

My story:

The Lord radically marked my heart for missions back in February of 2021. I had just gotten released from a nine day stay in a psychiatric hospital. My mind was completely ravaged by years and years of mental health issues, but the Lord used a visit to a small church in Florida to redirect and redeem my trajectory. It was only in that time that I learned about different missions organizations, one of them being YWAM. I felt the strongest pull to give my yes to God that I’ve ever felt in my life. Seven months later I found myself in Kona, Hawaii starting my Discipleship Training School, and ever since then I’ve been on a journey of complete healing and freedom in areas of mental health as well as a journey of falling in love with the nations and missions. Since my DTS I have gone on outreach to Puerto Rico, completed a School of Worship and gone on outreach to the Himalayas which have all led me to where I am now!

I have a huge heart for discipleship, worship, Gen Z and redeeming popular culture through the arts, specifically through music, songwriting and storytelling. My current long-term goal is to be in Kona partnering with the vision of School of Worship which is to equip and send worship leaders to release the unique sounds of the nations.
